For school candidates, the 2026 WASSCE exam wrapped up on June 19, 2026. WAEC’s official policy is to release results within 45 days of the last paper — and this was reconfirmed for 2026 specifically by Dr. Amos Dangut, Head of WAEC’s Nigeria National Office, at a press briefing in Lagos on May 11, 2026, where he also stated that certificates will follow within 90 days, with digital copies available on WAEC’s Digital Certificate platform.
Counting 45 days from June 19 puts the release window at roughly early August 2026. This lines up with recent history too — results came out in early August in 2025 and late July in 2024, so expect somewhere in that late-July-to-mid-August range.
A couple of realistic caveats:
– Not everyone gets their result the same day. In 2025, roughly 452,000 out of 1.97 million candidates had results still processing due to technical issues, and about 192,000 (9.75%) were withheld over malpractice checks — a pattern that tends to repeat.
– WAEC doesn’t publish an exact date in advance. It’s always announced via press release once marking and grading are fully complete.How to check once it’s out: go to waecdirect.org, enter your 10-digit exam number plus your scratch card/e-token PIN, select 2026, and check. You can also check via SMS to 32327.
Keep an eye on WAEC’s official channels in late July — that’s usually when the confirmation press release drops before the portal opens.
